I was a gruelling 12 hour days cleaning floors and tearing down wallpaper with one child strapped on my back and the others crawling inside the playpen. Ha! It was all starting to form, but there was still a long way to go. For furnishing the space would be a huge effort both in time and money. Also, I had go to my favorite stores. In order to keep my budget intact, I went with three of my boys to look for bargains in estate sales. The weekly ritual was that we would walk through estate and garage sales on Saturdays and Thursdays, purchasing a mix of antique and brand new furniture. My next task was to spend my weekdays painting and sanding on our front lawn. It was a bit like this... That's when my interest in restoration of furniture started. I kept on restoring furniture even after we had decorated our house. There was an area at the local markets that I could sell my pieces. Eventually, I had too numerous pieces of furniture to fit into the room available. There were open houses in my home which saw over 1 000 guests came through on the span of a weekend. They could buy anything they saw in the first floor. Growing Days was created in the home. When my business grew, so did our little family. I was finding that balance between what it took starting a business and be a mommy too. Growing Days just fit. My daughter Nora was our fourth baby. My business was booming but I was in need of a break. I decided to step back and spend some time at home, spending time with my children. It was exactly what I was looking for. But after a couple of months after that, the phone began to ring. They asked for my assistance in decorating as well as renovations. A majority of these were those who had walked through my property during open house for furniture! Then I slowly took on clients at my own speed. Soon I had multiple clients and I was running an enterprise of renovations to homes. When I first heard about my home renovation business I was astonished. As I reflect at it, it has made me giggle.
