Nadia and Carol
Nadia Comaneci (Gheorghe Gheorghiu Dej Now Onesti) Romanian Gymnast born 12 November 1961. She was the first Romanian to receive a score of 10 for an Olympic event. Bela Karalyi discovered Comaneci at age six. Comaneci would go on to become the Romanian gymnastics coach. She participated at the Romanian Junior Championships where she placed 13th. She was awarded the championship in 1970. In 1972, in a meet of communist countries juniors before the Olympics, she took home three medals of gold. Then in 1973 and 1974, she became the junior champion in all aspects. At her first competitive event at a senior level Lyudmila Turkishcheva of Russia won five gold medals as well with one silver. She took home the American Cup at the New York City Olympics. She also was the first female in history to dismount the parallel bars with backwards double salto. Carol Wayne.........................Carol Wayne was an American film and TV actor best recognized for portraying Art Fern's Tea-Time Movie Lady on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson. The journey of Carol Wayne in the world of entertainment started when she was a teenager. With her sister Nina Wayne, she joined the traveling entertainment show called Ice Capades. Carol Marie Wayne is a United States citizen, born on the 6th of September, 1942, in Chicago Illinois. Carol was a part of the entertainment business during her teenage years. Her first job was as a figure skater, performing alongside her twin sister Nina Wayne as part of the touring entertainment show known as Ice Capades. The shows featured skaters who were performed to music from the stage.
