Reid was able to bind Decker to a contract. Jessie James' first album entitled Jessie James and released in August 2009 was her self-titled debut. Jessie James, which featured Wanted as a top single in the Top 40 Singles Charts was moderately well-received. Decker has always considered herself as a country singer however, the album's promotion and production was designed to appeal to an audience that was more popular. After two more singles from the album stiffed Decker battled with label management for more control over her music, and the next track Boys in the Summer was a more country-oriented release. Decker's sophomore studio album was released with the name Daughter of a Gypsy, or Sweet American Dreams. Mercury put it on hold and three of Decker's country singles performed poorly. Her album was eventually released.

I was a gruelling 12 hour days cleaning floors and tearing down wallpaper with one child strapped on my back and the others crawling inside the playpen. Ha!
